Onyx Cork Flooring

Swiss made, commercial rated, and built in three layers: an 11mm floating plank designed to last a lifetime.

Onyx is a 7/16 in (11mm) Swiss made floating cork plank that clicks together without glue or nails. Each plank stacks a 3mm layer of natural cork over a 6.8mm E1 grade moisture resistant HDF core, finished underneath with a 1.2mm agglomerated cork backing that acts as a built-in underlayment.

The surface is sealed with hot coating protection and a highly resistant water based polyurethane finish. That combination earns Onyx a class 33 commercial durability rating (class 23 domestic), so the same floor that keeps a living room quiet can also handle a storefront or office.

Underfoot, cork does what hard surfaces cannot. Its cell structure, roughly 40 million air-filled cells per cubic centimeter, insulates against cold so barefoot mornings stay comfortable even in winter, and its natural elasticity is gentle on ankles and helps prevent slips. Those same honeycomb cells absorb impact sound instead of bouncing it around the room.

Cork is also a genuinely sustainable choice. It is harvested from the bark of cork oak trees without felling or damaging them; a single oak can live up to 200 years and be harvested around 20 times.
