Cork Underlayment - 1/8" (3mm) - 300 sq.ft. box

Overview

3mm Cork Underlayment – (Density 220 kg/m3) 300SF/box

Forna cork underlayment placed under the floors reflect heat of our body, thus offering a more comfortable feel and protecting the natural warmth of your feet.

This 3mm cork underlayment comes in pre-cut 2ft x 3ft (24” x 36”) sheets. A box contains 50 sheets and covers 300 sq feet. It is made from 100% agglomerated cork with water-based adhesives or binders and is recyclable. Check the finished flooring’s installation requirements before choosing underlayment.

Our underlayment is a cost effective answer for reducing airborne and impact noise problems. Cork offers a higher level of sound reduction versus most standard foam underlayment. Unlike synthetics, cork is a natural material that—due to its unique 40 million cells per cubic centimeter honeycomb structure and the generation of Suberin—is naturally resistant to the growth of microbial organisms such as mold and mildew and will expand and contract with your floor. Forna underlayment can also be successfully used under wood, hardwoods, engineered hardwood, cork flooring, and bamboo.

Cork underlayment is formaldehyde free and will act as a thermal barrier, not only insulating your feet from the cold below, but also working to maintain the ambient temperature of a room for longer periods. Cork, with its elastic nature, gives when you step upon it, providing a comfortable cushion for your feet to rest upon.

As you can see, the natural properties of cork have demonstrated its formidable abilities and beneficial qualities. Add our cork underlayment to your home and witness this for yourself.

Cork is one of the most sustainable wood materials found in nature as only the outer bark is harvested from the cork oak tree to provide the material used for agglomerated cork. Each tree is left intact to regenerate its bark, thus a single tree capable of living up to two hundred years can reap a yield once every decade. Combined with the natural properties found in cork this makes it a better material for building in residential and commercial sites.

Synthetic Foam

Wood, Laminate, carpet and ceramic floors absorb out body heat, thus the floors have a colder feel. Classic synthetic foams do not provide thermal insulation.
