Tasmanian Burl Cork Glue-Down Flooring
Coffee-dark burl cork in a 12 in x 24 in (305 x 610 mm) glue-down tile: 18 dB of impact sound reduction and a commercial class 32 rating in a floor that feels warm the moment you step on it.
Tasmanian Burl has dark coffee-brown tones mixed with lighter toffee and caramel colours. The 1/4 inch (6 mm) tiles have the irregular marks and texture of burl cork.
Each tile is natural cork through and through: a 6 mm cork wear surface over a cork core with a cork backing, cut square-edged and straight so tiles meet without bevels or gaps. Once glued down, the floor reads as one continuous, finished surface rather than a grid of tiles.
Cork provides cushioning and thermal insulation. Compare the acoustic test report for the complete floor assembly, and follow the product’s installation and care requirements.
Install it over a clean, level plywood subfloor or concrete at or above grade using Wakol D3540 cork adhesive, then seal with two coats of Loba 2K polyurethane. Finished this way, Tasmanian Burl is rated for bathrooms, entryways, and light commercial spaces as well as every room in the house.
Why this floor
- Impact sound reduction of 18 dB: cork keeps noise from traveling down through the floor or up through the ceiling.
- Rated commercial class 32 and domestic class 23, so it stands up to shops and offices, not just living rooms.
- All-cork construction: a 1/4 inch (6 mm) natural cork wear surface over a cork core and cork backing.
- Square-edged, straight-cut tiles measuring 12 in x 24 in.
- Suberin, cork's naturally occurring waxy substance, resists water damage, mold, mildew, dust mites, and insects; the surface is hypo-allergenic and repels dust and hair.
- No VOC emissions and made with formaldehyde-free adhesives.
- Backed by a 10-year residential wear warranty, a joint integrity warranty, and a lifetime structural warranty.
Important product note
Finish coats depend on where and how the product is installed. Bedrooms can get by with one coat of finish, but kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, entryways, commercial spaces, white or stained colored products, and all glued-down tiles (this product) require two coats. Fusion products are the exception and do not require site-applied finish.

ROLAND Nickner –
We installed this cork tiles in our guest bathroom. It was difficult to know what to do with this tiny bathroom. iCork offers advice on getting this floor. It is warmer than ceramic tile and much more comfortable to stand on. The floor was easy to install and looks great. I love how rich the color looks. We are already plan to do another room with the floor. I’m very satisfied with the product.
