Umber Grey Cork Flooring
A smoky, grey-toned cork plank with Swiss engineering under the surface: 7/16" (11mm) thick, click-together, and rated for commercial traffic.
Umber Grey brings cork's natural character into a cooler, contemporary color range. The muted umber-grey tone works where warm honey cork does not: modern kitchens, grey-and-white palettes, and rooms where you want texture without the traditional cork look.
Each plank is a three-layer sandwich: a full 3mm layer of natural cork on top, a 6.8mm E1 grade moisture resistant HDF core for stability, and a 1.2mm agglomerated cork backing that acts as a built-in underlayment. The Swiss made HotCoating surface protection, sealed with a water based polyurethane finish, is what lifts this floor to a class 33 commercial durability rating.
Underfoot, it behaves like cork should. Roughly 40 million air-filled cells per cubic centimeter give the floor natural warmth in winter and a gentle, permanently elastic feel that is easier on knees and ankles than hard flooring. Those same honeycomb cells absorb impact sound instead of reflecting it, so rooms sound quieter.
Installation is a floating Uniclic click lock system: square-edge planks with no bevel that lock together over your subfloor with no glue and no nails.
Why this floor
- Class 33 commercial durability rating (class 23 domestic) thanks to HotCoating surface protection, backed by a 15 year residential and 5 year commercial warranty.
- Genuine 3mm natural cork top layer over a 6.8mm E1 grade moisture resistant HDF core: 7/16" (11mm) of total thickness.
- 1.2mm agglomerated cork backing is bonded to every plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed.
- About 40 million cells per cubic centimeter give cork its thermal insulation: floors that stay comfortable barefoot even in colder months.
- Honeycomb cell structure absorbs impact sound rather than bouncing it back, and stays permanently elastic underfoot.
- GreenGuard Gold, ECO and formaldehyde test documents are linked below.
- Sustainably harvested: cork bark is peeled without felling the tree, and a single cork oak can be harvested about 20 times over a 200 year lifespan.
