Umber Cork Glue-Down Flooring
A 1/4 inch (6 mm) Swiss-made cork tile in a deep umber tone, glued straight to your subfloor for a quiet, commercial-grade surface.
Umber takes its name from the classic earth pigment, and the tile wears it well: a rich, shaded brown face of natural cork veneer, 0.028 to 0.031 inch (0.7 to 0.8 mm) thick, protected by a HotCoating wear layer with a high resistance matte finish. Each tile is a clean 23 5/8 x 11 3/4 inch (600 x 300 mm) rectangle with a square, straight-cut edge and no bevel, so the finished floor reads as one continuous surface rather than a grid.
Because it is a glue-down tile, the whole 1/4 inch (6 mm) of cork bonds directly to the subfloor with Wakol D3540 adhesive, then gets sealed on site with two coats of Loba 2K polyurethane. The result is a permanent, water-resistant installation that recorded 0 percent swelling after 24 hours in water testing.
Cork provides a resilient surface underfoot. The cell structure gives you a resilient, low-slip surface that is easy on knees and joints, cuts impact sound transmission by 18 dB, and holds warmth in the room (thermal resistance of 0.080 m2 K/W). It is rated for commercial class 32 duty as well as residential use, and it can go on walls as well as floors.
Why this floor
- 18 dB impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2): keeps footfall noise from traveling through the floor or the ceiling below.
- Commercial class 32 and domestic class 23 rated, with AC5 abrasion resistance and suitability for type W castor chairs.
- 0 percent swelling after 24 hours of water exposure (EN 317), with very good chemical resistance: a water-resistant floor once sealed with two coats of Loba 2K.
- Natural cork veneer top layer, 0.028 to 0.031 inch (0.7 to 0.8 mm), under a HotCoating wear layer with a high resistance matte finish.
- Thermal resistance of 0.080 m2 K/W keeps unwanted heat out in summer and holds warmth in winter, trimming heating and cooling bills.
- Made with formaldehyde-free adhesives. Review the product’s emissions documentation.
- Cfl s1 reaction-to-fire rating and residual indentation of 0.25 mm maximum for a resilient floor that recovers from daily impacts.
