Light Slate Cork Flooring
The cool, mineral look of light slate with the quiet warmth only real cork delivers, built to a commercial class 33 rating.
Light Slate pairs a soft gray, stone-inspired visual with everything slate itself cannot do: it stays warm in winter, hushes footsteps, and gives gently under every step. If you love the slate look but not cold, hard tile, this floating plank gets you there without the trade-offs.
Each 7/16 in (11 mm) plank is built in three layers: a 3 mm layer of natural cork on top, a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core in the middle, and a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing underneath. The surface is sealed with a HotCoating wear layer and a highly resistant Natural Shield water-based polyurethane finish, which is how this floor earns an AC5 abrasion rating and class 33 commercial durability.
Underfoot, cork's honeycomb structure (roughly 40 million air-filled cells per cubic centimeter) works like built-in insulation and cushioning. Barefoot in January feels fine, standing for hours is easier on your ankles, and impact sound drops by 18 dB compared to a bare subfloor.
The planks assemble as a floating floor with a patented Uniclic click-lock profile whose joints lock down watertight. That makes Light Slate at home in busy living rooms, offices, and retail spaces alike, with square edges and no bevel for a smooth, continuous surface.
Why this floor
- Rated commercial class 33 and domestic class 23 (EN 16511) with AC5 abrasion resistance: durability specified for stores and offices, running in your home.
- 18 dB impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2) from cork's honeycomb cell structure, so footsteps stay quiet for the rooms below.
- Patented Uniclic watertight click joints that exceed European standards, with locking strength above 500 kg per linear meter (ISO 24334): no open joints, no gaps.
- Three-layer, 7/16 in (11 mm) construction: 3 mm natural cork over a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core with a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing.
- Naturally insulating: about 40 million cells per cubic centimeter give a thermal resistance of 0.108 m² K/W, keeping the surface comfortable year round.
- Low swelling core: less than 8% after 24 hours of water exposure (EN 317), plus very good chemical resistance (EN 423).
- Emissions documentation: GreenGuard Gold and AgBB reports. Warranty: 15 years residential, 5 years commercial.

Important product note
This plank uses an adapted Uniclic click system that locks tighter than standard click versions: the joints close watertight, exceed European standards, and eliminate open seams over time. The trade-off is that installation takes slightly more effort. Always use an 8 in (20 cm) taping block to seat the joints; tapping the plank edge directly can damage it. Done right, you get a precise, stable, watertight floor that keeps its pristine appearance.
