Care & Maintenance – Forna Hot Coating Finish Flooring

1. Routine Cleaning

Daily / Weekly Care

  • Sweep with a soft-bristle vacuum attachment or use a dust mop to pick up grit, dust, and sand.

  • Lightly damp mop the surface using a well-wrung mop.

⚠️ Important: Always keep moisture to a minimum. Never allow puddles or standing water—excess water can damage cork.

Monthly Cleaning (No more than 2× per month)

  • Replace plain water cleaning with a neutral-pH hardwood floor cleaner.

  • Apply with a microfiber mop only.

  • Do not mist or spray the cleaner directly onto the floor.

Selecting the Right Cleaner
Check labels carefully to ensure:

  1. pH-neutral is clearly stated.

  2. Labeled for hardwood flooring (laminate is acceptable; avoid “all-purpose” formulas).

  3. Leaves no film or residue.

  4. Avoid products claiming “shine,” “refresh,” or “rejuvenate.”

Extra Tips

  • Place entry mats at doors to reduce dirt and sand.

  • Attach felt pads under furniture legs to avoid scratches.

  • For rolling chairs, use only soft castors (EN 12529 compliant) or add protective mats.

2. Protective Maintenance

  • The Hot Coating finish is designed to perform without additional varnish.

  • If the wear layer becomes significantly diminished, a care treatment can be applied:

    • Recommended product: LOBA 2K Supra AT.

    • Allow 5 hours drying time before foot traffic; full curing takes 3 days.

    • Never exceed 3 total applications.

3. Indoor Climate Guidelines

  • Keep room temperature around 20 °C with relative humidity between 55–65%.

  • In dry conditions, use a humidifier. Avoid sudden or extreme fluctuations that could cause gaps or swelling.
