Black Buffalo Leather Flooring

Genuine chrome-free leather underfoot, in a deep buffalo black, built on a click-together plank rated for full commercial traffic.

Black Buffalo brings real leather to the floor. The surface is 100% natural, chrome-free bonded leather in a rich black tone, and because it is a natural material, every plank carries its own shade variation. That variation is not a flaw: it is what gives the floor the depth and character of a leather good rather than a printed imitation.

Each 13/32 in (10.5 mm) plank is engineered in three layers: the genuine bonded leather wear surface, a 0.27 in (6.8 mm) E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core, and a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing. The leather is sealed with an advanced HotCoating process and a high resistance matte finish, so it shrugs off scratches and chemicals while keeping a soft, low-sheen look.

Underfoot, it feels like nothing else in the flooring aisle. The leather surface is warm and gentle on joints, and the cork underlayer cushions every step while cutting impact noise by 17 dB. It suits high-end retail, hotel lobbies, and busy commercial spaces just as well as a living room, and the planks can go on walls too.

The leather fibers are regenerative raw material, ethically sourced from remnants of the European tanning and meat industries. Nothing new is taken; waste is turned into a luxury surface.

Acclimate and inspect the material, mix planks from multiple cartons, and preserve every required perimeter and transition gap.
Sweep or vacuum grit and clean with a well-wrung damp cloth or mop—never leave standing water on the floor.

Common questions

Can I install this over radiant (underfloor) heat?

Yes. Black Buffalo is compatible with underfloor heating systems. Its thermal resistance is a low 0.088 m² K/W (EN 12524), so heat transfers through the plank instead of being trapped below it.

Will it stand up to pets, office chairs, and heavy traffic?

It is rated class 23/32, which covers busy commercial areas as well as any room in a home, with AC4 abrasion resistance. The HotCoating surface resists scratches and chemicals, it is rated suitable for Type W chair casters (EN 425), and furniture leg testing (EN 424) showed no visible damage.

How does it handle moisture and spills?

The core is E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF, tested to less than 8% thickness swelling after 24 hours of exposure (EN 317), and stain testing per EN 438-2:2016 showed no damage to the surface. Like any HDF-core floating floor, it is designed for interior, dry-service areas rather than wet rooms.

How is it installed?

As a floating floor: the planks lock together with a Uniclic click profile, no glue or nails needed. Each carton holds 6 planks covering 18.08 sq ft, and we recommend ordering 10% overage for cuts. The planks can also be installed on walls.
