Cork Flooring Planks – Salami – 12mm Floating 17.44 sq.ft per carton

Cork has been used for flooring for over a century. A finished cork floor can have the look of textured hardwood, the soft give of carpet, and the easy maintenance of vinyl. Throw in natural insulating and sound attenuation properties, and cork is an environmentally friendly flooring option worthy of attention.
Salami cork flooring planks comes to market as a truly unique and welcome addition. This chunky organic “raw” looking cork flooring plank features an easy to work with palette of oranges, browns, ambers and hints of peach. Light and airy, the color scheme will brighten your décor and bring and openness to any area that feels too dark. Salami planks are warm and inviting, in a foyer or kitchen you will feel its draw, the need to linger and enjoy, making for a fabulous design element.

As a floating cork floor, this square-edged design will install seamlessly, allowing your floor to appear as one large finished unit. Using the Uniclic flooring system, a patented tongue and grove application, Salami cork board planks will connect easily, without tools or glue and minimal floor preparation required. No separate underlayment is required since our planks have an integrated low-density sound absorbing cork underlayment. In many cases, you can lay a cork floor directly over your old floor! This flooring is available as 36 x 12 x 1/2inch planks.

A total of 12mm (1/2inch) thick, 6mm of it is total cork, (3mm top layer + 3mm integrated underlay) and a 6mm E1 Class High Density Fiberboard center makes this one of the thickest cork floors on the market. This also makes it one of the best sound and thermal insulators as 3mm to 12mm can mute sound by 10-20 decibels. Prefinished with 3 coats of water-based polyurethane, Salami flooring is ideal for areas such as the kitchen or basement. Packaged at 6 planks per carton, each box can cover 17.44 square feet.

The use of cork as a raw material dates back to Phoenician and Greek times. Cork became known all over the world as an effective bottle stopper for wine. Today, cork is a valuable resource for Portugal, representing one of its most important export products. A typical tree produces several hundred kilograms of cork at each harvesting and will survive for many generations. The bark is stripped off the tree in sections by highly skilled men using special axes, a traditional manual skill that dates back many hundreds of years.

Cork is harvested on a sustainable basis and the stripping of the bark does not harm the tree in any way. The bark grows back completely, taking on a smoother texture after each harvest. A cork oak tree can be safely harvested up to 20 times during its life cycle, making cork a truly inexhaustible natural resource. But the innate characteristics of cork should not be forgotten as well. As a thermal insulator and sound inhibitor cork is unmatched, yet that is not all cork is capable of. Install it in a kitchen or bath room and you’ve got a wood-based floor that can repel water and damages that would usually be present due to wood rot.

Look to Cork Flooring Planks or products for a material that does more than it takes from the earth. As an addition to your home our Salami floor is sure to bring positive results and benefits for years to come.
